Cookies Policy
ClauseClear uses cookies sparingly. This page explains exactly what we set, why, and how to control them.
Last updated:
1. Summary
ClauseClear uses only strictly-necessary cookies needed to make the merchant dashboard work. We do not use third-party analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or cross-site tracking technologies.
Because we set only strictly-necessary cookies, we are not required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) to obtain consent before setting them. Should this change — for example if we add an analytics provider in future — we will introduce a clear consent banner and update this page before any non-essential cookie is set.
2. What we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-access-token | Authenticates a signed-in merchant’s session against Supabase. | Session | Strictly necessary |
| sb-refresh-token | Allows the dashboard to refresh the access token without requiring re-sign-in. | 7 days | Strictly necessary |
| cc_preview | Soft-launch preview cookie. Set when an authorised previewer visits with the magic-link key during the pre-launch period. Not set after public launch. | 7 days | Strictly necessary |
Cookie names beginning sb- are set by Supabase Auth, our identity provider. They are essential to the function of the dashboard.
3. The free /check tool and the embed
The shopper-facing /check tool does not require sign-in and does not set any cookies on your browser. The ClauseClear embed displayed on verified merchants’ sites also does not set cookies; it operates entirely within a Shadow DOM and fetches static merchant data from our public API.
4. Third-party services
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, social-media, or fingerprinting services on ClauseClear. The only third-party set involves are:
- Supabase, our identity provider, which sets the strictly- necessary cookies above.
- Google and Microsoft, when a merchant chooses to sign in via SSO; these providers set their own cookies on their own domains during the sign-in flow, governed by their privacy and cookie policies.
5. Controlling cookies
Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent merchants from signing in to the dashboard but will not affect any other part of ClauseClear.

6. Changes
We will update this policy if our use of cookies changes — for example if we introduce analytics or any non-essential cookie. Material changes will be notified to active merchant accounts before they take effect.
